KATYDID
Katydid's owner died and she was left with a woman that could not care for her. Her diet was cake mix and kibble. We were told she was a support dog..the truth who knows. She is now on a healthy diet! Which Katydid did not think too much of in the beginning... she is adjusting.
When we took her to the vet for a Wellness, she was a perfect lady. Her foster Jennifer has had her for about 3 weeks and her other female mastiff does not get along with Katydid.. so we are looking for a new home.
Katy’s foster has given us loads of information: “Katydid definitely wants to be your special companion. She loves attention and sunning herself in our lanai and yard. She needs to continue on her diet as she’s a bit portly. She’ll sit if you’ve got a treat in your hand. She’s currently on meds for some arthritis which I think will diminish as she loses weight. She loves her nightly walks though she’s not able to go that far. She wanders our backyard and really enjoys a good roll in the grass and even has a couple of short happy runs occasionally. They all enjoy sunbathing except the puppy. He’s too busy running circles around them. Katy fell in the pool yesterday, so she’s been keeping a wider distance from it. She really doesn’t go after anything in the yard.
She does hate loud vehicles and will react to them going down our street, hence the short leash while I’m on the sidewalk. She doesn’t pull on the leash, but heel isn’t in her vocab, and I keep her on a short leash in a heel while walking on the sidewalk. She’ll go after a lizard or a squirrel but only to move it out of her way. She’s accepting of our puppy, though will tell him no appropriately when he tries to go for her ears. She’s been outside free with each of our dogs separately and no one has issues. She even played a bit with the puppy.” Fosters are the lifelines to saving these dogs.
The TRUE Guardian Angels! Our fosters learn and tell us so much and they see their real personalities and as a team we see what is needed to help the dog and the human.. We cannot thank them enough..they are the reason MRF is able to do so much! They also have the first right to adopt!
